可爱的小学校写给爸爸妈妈的信(1月18日)

Dear Mummy and Daddy,

Very fast, it' s the third week of January! Soon, it would be Chinese New Year. I hope the preparations were going well! I could not wait to see all my relatives and of course, the red packets!

We were still into the theme Animal – Sea creatures this week. And we were introduced 2 new sea creatures and they were namely the sea turtle and starfish.

Sea turtle swam in the ocean and crawled up to the shore to lay eggs! They carried their “house” with them where ever they went. They moved very slowly too.Starfish lived in the ocean along rocky coasts. And sometimes, they could be washed up onto the sand! Starfish had very strong arms that would grow back if it was being cut off accidentally. Their mouth was located in the middle of their body and like octopus; they had suckers on their arms to help them cling on to rocks! Ms. Angela also showed us a real starfish. It looked good.

Ms. Angela also read us 2 books. One is titled “Tallulah in the kitchen” and the other is titled “PIGLET and PAPA”.

The new letter that was introduced to us this week was the letter “b”. “b” for butterfly, buzzy bee, baby bird and also, basket and bananas!

For craft, we painted green on a paper plate as well as colour the arms and the feet of the sea turtle. Ms. Angela would cut it and let us paste it on our paper plate. Guess what did we have? That’s right! We’ll get our very own sea turtle! We also did stamping on a starfish template and apply a layer of glue over it and added some sand. Now it felt like a starfish. We did some finger painting as well.

Out of the context, Ms. Angela showed us how to make goop using corn starch and water! It sure felt funny. Some of us were pretty scared to touch it but when we finally did, we couldn’t stop playing with it! I hoped we had that kind of activity again. If you want to try this at home, here’s how we made it:

What You Need:
One Part Cornstarch
One Part Water
What You Do:
Mix and stir with food color.

Ms. Angela taught us a new rhyme and 2 new songs over the weeks. Here's the lyrics :

The wise man built his house upon the rock(song)
The wise man built his house upon the rock, (X3)
And the rain came tumbling down!
The rains came down and the floods came up, (X3)
And the house on the rock stood firm.
The foolish man built his house upon the sand, (X3)
And the rain came tumbling down!
The rains came down and the floods came up, (X3)
And the house on the sand went Splash!

There was a little turtle(rhyme)
There was a little turtle, He lived in a box.He swam in a puddle, He climbed upon the rocks. He snapped at a mosquito. He snapped at a flea.He snapped at a minnow, And he snapped at me.He caught the mosquito, He caught the flea, He caught the minnow; But he didn't catch me!

You Are My Sunshine(song)
You Are My SunshineMy only sunshine. You make me happy When skies are grey. You'll never know, dear, How much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away.

Seems like a very busy week this week! Stay tune for more fun.

Love always,
Funasaurus – Joy18th Jan 2008
