小学校给爸妈的英文信(6月27日)

Dear Mummy and Daddy,

This week, we had an outing to Vivocity. It had been a long time since we’d gone out as a class and we did enjoy ourselves; especially so when there was water to play with. You bet we had a ball of fun! Some of us went to the dry playground while most of us were up at the water play area. Vera didn’t join us as she wasn’t feeling very well. However, we were glad that she could join us on our next outing on the coming Tuesday!

Besides the outing, it was our first time playing with blocks and we managed to build quite a few things! Vivian built her very own floor castle that was actually Red. However, Giselle and Amanda came and added colours to it! Owen made his own standing castle which Asher tried to squeeze into but fell. Vera made a train and she even pushed it along and made a choo choo sound!

We even celebrated the birthday of Matteus this month! It was a chocolate-banana cake and was yummy and the goody bag was interesting too! Many thanks to mummy and daddy of Matteus!

Story for this week was Little red dot comes home and What’s the magic word.

Little red dot comes home was a story about a little red dot by the name of Soosie. One day, she got bored and she blew a wonder balloon. However, this balloon brought her to a faraway land away from her family and friends! After exploring the faraway land, she realised she missed her family and friends and decided to go back to where she was from by blowing another balloon. I guess there’s really no where better than home!

What’s the magic word was a book about a little bird who hatched from it’s egg and was flying to different places. She tried to go into the house of different animals but got rejected as she didn’t know the magic word. And finally, she got back to her nest and learnt that the magic word was please. Upon reading the story, Ms. Angela discussed with us about manners at school. We were reminded how we may make our requests know politely like “May I have more rice please?” We were also told to ask for toys from our friends instead of snatching them. And not forgetting, we must take turns to share too!

We learnt 3 new letters this week and it was the letter x, y and z. X for x-ray, y for yellow and yoyo, z for zebra and zoo.

For math, we did a revision of long and short, big and small, every one of us knew it very well and was fighting to squeeze into the small square and tried pushing one another out just to stand on the short line! Ms. Angela and Dai Lao Shi had a hard time persuading us that there was no need to squeeze; but we ignored them in the moment of fun.
For project, we had dough play; but a little different this time round. We had no equipments to play the dough with but only our hands. You’d be surprised at the things we make with the dough! Matteus made a cake with it and it sure look delicious!

For the first time, we tried using scissors (of course the ones that weren’t sharp). Most of us were corrected at the way the scissors was being held. Owen did a good job at handling the scissors. He even laid the paper properly after cutting them!

Cookery this week was waffle and I must say that it wasn’t quite what we expected but none the less, we enjoy it all the same!

As for the month of July, the theme is “Look around me”. It’s about places in the community and we would be going around the neighbourhood to visit different shops. Ms. Angela would inform you when the time is near. I am sure its going to be fun hitting the streets again!

The weather had changed and some of us are feeling under the weather. Do remind us to drink more water and take good care of yourself too!

Hugs and kisses,
Funasaurus – Joy
